Your IV Therapy Questions,

What is IV vitamin therapy?

IV vitamin therapy is a medical treatment that delivers vitamins, minerals, and fluids directly into the bloodstream for enhanced absorption. It is typically used to support hydration, nutrient deficiencies, and specific health conditions under clinical supervision.

IV vitamin therapy must be administered by a qualified healthcare professional, such as a registered nurse, paramedic or doctor, trained in intravenous infusions and in compliance with Australian regulations.

When administered correctly by a trained healthcare professional, IV vitamin therapy is generally safe. However, as with any medical procedure, there are potential risks. These include infection at the injection site, vein irritation or inflammation (phlebitis), allergic reactions, electrolyte imbalances, and, in rare cases, fluid overload. A thorough medical assessment, proper sterile technique, and adherence to safety protocols help minimise these risks.

IV therapy can support hydration, replenish essential nutrients, and assist individuals with medical conditions that affect nutrient absorption. It may be beneficial for certain individuals under medical supervision.

IV therapy is not intended to cure or serve as a stand-alone treatment for any disease or illness. It is designed to support general wellness and hydration and may complement other medical care when appropriate. Always consult your healthcare provider for diagnosis or treatment of medical conditions.
